Meet Benson!
Benson is a gentle, five-year-old mixed breed with a heart full of loyalty and devotion. This large, 75-pound boy, whose lineage includes American Pitbull Terrier, German Shepherd, Chow Chow, and other breeds, has a soulful gaze and a soft cream coat that hints at his sensitive and thoughtful nature. He's a constant companion, happiest when by your side, whether on a car ride, watching the world go by, or snuggling up for a quiet evening. Benson is a smart cookie, knowing commands like sit, stay, come, and even "kisses" and "snuggle"! He loves to chase balls, play enrichment games, swim, and enjoy a good chew. Benson can be a little shy at first and may need a moment to warm up, but once he trusts you, he's incredibly loving and attentive with impeccable house manners. He's an intuitive soul who can sense your emotions and offers comfort by leaning in or curling up beside you when you need it most.
Ideal Home
Benson would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a securely fenced yard that is at least six feet tall, as he has a tendency to jump fences. He needs a home where he feels safe, supported, and understood. He is not compatible with cats and requires an adult-only home where his sensitive nature can truly shine.
Ongoing Health
Benson requires daily medication to manage allergies and support his emotional balance, helping him feel his best.
Training & Support
Benson walks well but can pull on the leash, so continued positive reinforcement training will help him stay focused. He is selective with other dogs and can be reactive to unfamiliar ones. While he has lived with multiple dogs, a recent physical altercation with one dog in his current home indicates he would do best as the only dog in the household or with a caregiver experienced in slow, structured introductions using positive reinforcement.
