Mama is a sweet, gentle, and elegant girl who came to us needing a new home. She's about 8 years old and weighs around 46 lbs. Mama is taking her time to adjust and build trust, and she's doing wonderfully in her foster home. She enjoys soft blankets, snuggling, watching TV, and sunbathing. She's also starting to discover the joy of stuffed toys! Mama can be a little shy at first, but with patience and kindness, she blossoms into a loving companion.
Ideal Home
Mama would do best in a home with a calmer-natured, sweet dog, as she gets along well with the mellow older dog in her foster home. She has also shown tolerance towards the resident cat. Due to her gentle nature and the possibility of accidentally bumping into them, homes without toddlers would be ideal. She thrives with a family that will give her the time and patience she needs to adjust and feel comfortable.
Ongoing Health
Mama is current on her vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed. She has some tartar on her teeth, and her adoptive family should consult with their veterinarian about a dental cleaning in the future.
Training & Support
While Mama isn't sure if she knows any commands yet, Wags offers free lifetime training classes for all adopted dogs, which can be a great way to bond and learn together. She doesn't particularly like crates but will use one if it's near the other dog's crate. She sleeps soundly on a doggie bed by her foster's bed at night. Mama is very good about potty manners and will quietly go to the door when she needs to go out, so it's important to watch for her cues as she doesn't bark to alert you. She can be startled by loud noises, but her foster is helping her get used to sounds like the vacuum and weed eater. She dislikes being rushed into new situations or relationships and prefers to build trust gradually.
