Meet Wheezy! This four-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart is as devoted and affectionate as they come. With her snowy white coat, golden patches, and striking icy blue eyes, she’s a beauty with a personality to match! Wheezy is a loyal, cuddly, and playful companion who adores being close to her people. Her name perfectly captures the happy little wheezes and oinks she makes when she's soaking up affection, reminding everyone of a content little piglet. She's a smart girl who thrives on connection, is fully house-trained, knows several commands, and learns new skills quickly.
Ideal Home
Wheezy would thrive as the only pet in the home, as she can be reactive towards other animals and isn't comfortable sharing her space. In a pet-free environment, she can relax and show her best qualities: affectionate, playful, and deeply devoted. She would do best with an experienced adopter in a quiet home and is not currently compatible with homes with young children. Wheezy typically needs about 10 to 15 minutes to warm up to new people and may bark or seem unsure at first, but offering a bit of wet food helps her feel comfortable quickly.
Ongoing Health
Wheezy receives Venlafaxine to help manage stress and reactivity, which has been very beneficial. She also follows a special diet to manage food sensitivities, which helps her feel her best. Vet visits require some preparation and pre-visit medication, but with that support, she does well.
Training & Support
Wheezy is remarkably intelligent and responsive, knowing commands like sit, shake, place, free, and wait. She learns new skills quickly and responds immediately when asked to calm down. While she used to react strongly to dogs across the street, she has made meaningful progress on leash and can now pass them with only a brief fluff and grumble before moving on. With the right precautions, walks have become much more enjoyable.
