Pogo is a stunning black and tan Pomsky who, at 4 years old and weighing 20 pounds, has already experienced several homes in his short life. One of his previous homes used a shock collar, which unfortunately left a healed wound on his neck. Pogo needs a patient adopter who understands that he takes time to adjust to new environments and people. He would benefit greatly from having a designated "safety zone," such as a crate or a specific room, where he can retreat when feeling scared or overwhelmed, allowing him to calm himself. This boy is incredibly smart and HIGHLY ENERGETIC! He requires a fenced yard to safely expend his abundant energy. Pogo's agility and speed make him a fantastic candidate for activities like competitive agility or lure coursing. He thrives in an active home that can meet his significant physical and mental needs. Beyond his energy, Pogo is HILARIOUS, quirky, and fun, guaranteeing laughter every day. He gets along wonderfully with other playful dogs, both small and large, and particularly enjoys initiating games of chase.
Ideal Home
An active home with a fenced yard is essential for Pogo to safely burn off his energy.
Ongoing Health
Pogo is up-to-date on core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordetella), has tested negative for heartworm and Lyme disease, and has had bloodwork, a fecal test, and is neutered.
Training & Support
Pogo has a lack of impulse control, but can be redirected with a toy. He is reactive to new people, which is primarily vocal. Continued socialization and positive reinforcement will be key to helping him overcome his fear. Once bonded, he is attentive and focused, making outings enjoyable. He is also great for grooming and vet visits with a little calming medication. He has learned to use a crate properly and enjoys car rides.
