I’m Valerie, a 4½-year-old pit mix with warm brown and white fur, weighing about 46 pounds. I'm a loyal, gentle soul looking for a second chance. My journey started tough when I was rescued from an euthanasia list while pregnant and terrified. But I'm a survivor, and after finding safety in a foster home where I gave birth to my beautiful babies, I emerged stronger and even more loving. I must have been a beloved pet once because I know how to sit for treats, enjoy car rides, and walk gently on a leash. My foster's 9-year-old son can even walk me with ease! I’m leash, crate, and potty trained, heartworm negative, spayed, and vaccinated. I absolutely adore people and am a complete sweetheart, though I’d prefer to be your one and only furry friend, as I do best as an only dog and am not safe around cats. Loud noises like fireworks and thunderstorms make me nervous, so a quieter home would be ideal for me to feel safe. I love attention, whether it's head scratches, belly rubs, or just cuddling up in bed – I'm a true Velcro dog! I also enjoy a good chew, like femur bones, pig ears, and rope toys, and love playing outside. Treats are a favorite, and I've enjoyed everything from Beggin' Strips to home-cooked meals! I was on Simparica Trio for heartworm protection and did wonderfully. I’ve never shown aggression towards people and am extremely loving and gentle with children and even strangers. I respond well to corrections and truly aim to please.
Ideal Home
A quieter home where I feel safe, as loud noises can make me nervous. I do best as an only dog and am not safe around cats, so a home without other pets is preferred.
Ongoing Health
I am heartworm negative, spayed, and vaccinated. I was on Simparica Trio for heartworm protection and did great with no issues.
Training & Support
I am leash, crate, and potty trained. I respond beautifully to corrections and aim to please.
