A little about them
Meet Flaco, a playful, affectionate 2-year-old Chihuahua weighing 6.5 pounds. This tiny dog has a huge personality and loves toys, attention, and the people he trusts. Once he has about 10 minutes to settle in, he becomes a funny, loyal companion.
Flaco can be nervous with unfamiliar people and may bark, act tough, or nip when frightened or overwhelmed. He needs patient people who respect his boundaries and let him approach at his own pace. With other dogs, he is doing well in foster care, and he has had positive, supervised interactions with children.
Ideal Home
Flaco would do best with an experienced, Chihuahua-savvy family and older, dog-savvy children. His adopters should understand small-dog body language, use slow positive introductions, and provide a quiet separate space during visitors or busy gatherings.
Ongoing Health
Flaco had a badly broken leg that required surgical repair with a plate and pins. The pins have recently been removed, and he is continuing to recover. He is neutered and vaccinated, and he will have a health certificate before adoption. His family should be prepared to follow remaining veterinary recommendations as his leg heals.
Training & Support
Flaco is doing wonderfully with crate training and keeping his crate clean. He is still working on house training and uses pee pads indoors. He is also making progress with leash walking and would benefit from continued confidence building, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
