Princess is a spayed female terrier pittie mix, about four years old, born on November 14, 2021. She was returned to a shelter because she was considered "too energetic" and "too happy"—what a shame! She is a happy and exciting dog who just wants to be with her people. She enjoys car rides and squeaky toys, and while she knows her commands, she can get excited and jump up for attention. With a gentle correction and a command like "sit," she'll happily oblige to receive pets. She is an avid chewer, so providing her with appropriate chew toys like Kongs and bully sticks will keep her occupied. Princess will bark for attention, including when she needs to go potty or wants some love. She understands that sitting is the way to get pets.
Ideal Home
Princess would thrive in an active home with older children, an active couple, or an active single person. She needs a fenced yard and would not be a good apartment dog. She can be the only dog or would do well with a canine companion who can match her energy and excitement level. Her high energy would be too much for small animals.
Ongoing Health
Princess is up to date on all her vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and is on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
Training & Support
Princess is crate trained and house-trained. She knows commands such as sit, come, stay, off, and heel for leash walking. She takes treats very nicely. She will need continued guidance to manage her excitement and jumping when seeking attention. Providing plenty of exercise and chew toys will be key to her success.
