Rocky was born on June 23, 2015, and weighs about 100 lbs. He's a typical Rottie who bonds intensely with his humans and would love for his new family to be around more often than not. Rocky is a big lug who loves to kayak, swim, and will do just about anything for a squeaky toy! He was previously surrendered because his humans moved to a condo that doesn't allow his breed. Upon arrival, Rocky was a bit out of shape, but after a few months of fun activities and socialization, he looks amazing and is in great physical condition. He's house-trained, travels well in the car, and is good on leash, though he can be strong if he decides to go in a different direction. Rocky is good with other dogs and would likely be the alpha, so a medium-to-large sized dog would be preferred. He's been fine meeting children, but we wish to place him in an adult/teen home since he can be protective of his home and family towards strangers. We've found Rocky has too much interest in cats to live with any.
Ideal Home
Rocky would thrive in a home where his humans are around more often than not. He would do best in an adult or teen-only home.
Ongoing Health
Rocky has two masses in his ventral thorax, each about 1 cm in size, which appear cyst-like and lipoma-like. These have not been tested due to funding limitations. He also has a scar on one eyelid and scars on his legs from past chewing, likely due to boredom or stress. He has some nuclear sclerosis (age-related cloudiness) in his eyes that does not currently affect him.
Training & Support
Rocky is house-trained and travels well in the car. He is good on leash but can be strong. He was noted to have chewed on himself in the past due to boredom, but this has subsided with increased activity and socialization. He also showed some protective instincts at the vet, which is considered normal for his breed.
