Loki is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix, weighing around 40 pounds, and expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued with his mother, Wanda, and littermates from a dumping area outside of Houston. Loki is the brave and curious leader of his litter, always the first to explore. He's an energetic and playful pup who loves to climb and play keep-away with his toys. Loki is potty trained and enjoys snuggling after a day of play. He can be a little hesitant with new experiences but quickly warms up. He is food-motivated and loves attention from people and other dogs. Loki has experience with crates and children, but his interactions with cats have not been tested. He is eager to learn and is working on leash skills and basic obedience. Loki thrives with positive reinforcement, consistency, and ongoing socialization. He would do best in a home with another friendly dog to mentor him, or with a plan for continued socialization through training classes, daycare, or playdates. Ideally, his new home would have someone available for most of the day, as he benefits from regular interaction and breaks. Loki is ready to bring joy, adventure, and cuddles to his forever home.
Ideal Home
Loki would do best in a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help guide him. If you don't have another dog, a solid plan for ongoing socialization is required. He also needs a home where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
Loki is a young, healthy dog.
Training & Support
Loki is potty trained but may have a few accidents as he adjusts to a new routine. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Continued socialization is crucial for building his confidence.
