Trix is an 8-month-old, 35-pound spayed female Pitbull mix with the sweetest, smartest soul. She was surrendered to a shelter with her brother and was the more shut-down of the two. While her brother has found his forever family, Trix needed extra time in foster care to build confidence before beginning her own journey home. She was significantly undersocialized early in life, and her baseline is fear of humans, but she has never shown any reactivity. When unsure, she simply looks for a safe place to hide. She is gentle, just scared, and very quiet. Trix is incredibly observant and picks things up quickly, as evidenced by her mastering the doggy door within just a couple of days. With patience and intentional time spent building trust, she grows more comfortable, eventually playing with toys, running with other dogs, and choosing to curl up on the couch or sleep in bed with her humans.
Ideal Home
Trix will need a home where someone is around more often than not, both because she's still a puppy and because building trust takes time and consistency. She is not a ready-made confident dog. She requires patience, compassion, and commitment. She has been around kids and is shy at first. Her history with cats is unknown.
Ongoing Health
Trix is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Trix is housebroken and loves her crate. She is learning to walk on a leash. She needs a home that understands her shyness and is committed to helping her build confidence.
