Meet Benson! This gentle, five-year-old mixed breed with a soulful gaze and a soft cream coat is a large, 75-pound companion who embodies loyalty, sensitivity, and quiet devotion. Benson is a low-energy dog who thrives as a constant companion, happiest when he's by your side. He enjoys car rides, lounging, and snuggling in during quiet evenings. Benson knows an impressive list of commands, including "sit," "stay," "come," "leave it," "look at me," "kisses," and "snuggle," making him a joy to train and connect with. His favorite pastimes are low-key, such as enrichment games, swimming, chasing a ball, and enjoying a good chew. Benson may take a moment to warm up to new people, but once he connects, he is deeply devoted and incredibly loving with impeccable house manners. He is intuitive and forms strong bonds, offering comfort by leaning in or curling up beside you when you need it most.
Ideal Home
Benson would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a securely fenced yard that is at least six feet tall, as he has been known to jump fences. He needs a home where he feels safe, supported, and understood. Due to his sensitivity around other dogs and his incompatibility with cats, Benson would do best as the only dog in an adult-only home.
Ongoing Health
Benson takes a daily medication to manage his allergies and support his emotional balance, a plan established with his behavioral vet. He also has a situational calming aid on hand for higher-stress moments.
Training & Support
While Benson walks well, he can pull on the leash, so continued guidance and positive reinforcement training will be beneficial. He can be selective and reactive with unfamiliar dogs, but he responds well to guidance and knows focus cues like "leave it" and "engage-and-disengage." In his first weeks in a new home, he does best kept on leash even within the fenced yard and around doorways while he settles in.
