About Sentry
Sentry is a happy and affectionate 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued with his mother and littermates from a rural area outside of Houston, Texas. Sentry is a playful pup who loves cuddles, wrestling with his siblings, and going for walks. He adores people and other dogs, and he greets everyone with enthusiasm. Sentry is potty trained and is growing into a confident and well-rounded dog. He is outgoing and friendly, always eager to make new friends and be included in activities. He has been around children and has done well, and he enjoys soaking up attention from everyone he meets. Sentry is continuing to learn leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn.
Ideal Home
Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature into an exceptional adult dog. Ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive. He would do best in a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide him. If you don't currently have a dog, please provide a plan for continued socialization, such as structured training classes, regular playdates with trusted dogs, or supervised daycare. Because Sentry is still a young dog, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
There are no specific ongoing health concerns mentioned for Sentry.
Training & Support
Sentry is potty trained but is still an adolescent and learning about the world. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Consistent positive reinforcement and continued leash practice will help him thrive. Socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs is important for building his lifelong confidence.
