Sugar and Spice! Petunia goes by many names, including Pattycake, Tuna melt, and our favorite Squiggly butt! She is a sweet, playful, curious, and confident girl. While she might be a little shy at first, give her a couple of hours, and you'll see her adorable personality shine. Petunia is a loving, affectionate girl who enjoys cuddling on the couch, playing with toys, and going for walks to explore the world. She sometimes barks when she is super excited, often after her meals, and will playfully nip at nearby items like pillows and blankets, but she is easily redirected with a toy. She also barks to alert you to strangers outside. Petunia has done well on short car rides, lasting up to an hour, with no car sickness, and she settles down after a few minutes. Once comfortable with other dogs, she may try to assert her dominance with a low growl but respects corrections. She enjoys chewing on toys and is learning boundaries during playtime with other dogs, responding positively to corrections when she tries to nip at ankles.
Ideal Home
Petunia would thrive in a home that can provide her with plenty of opportunities for exploration and play. A yard would be very helpful due to her love for water and frequent drinking, but frequent walks can also suffice. She loves to be around her people and will follow you around the house, so it's important to ensure she is secure before opening any doors or leaving the house.

Training & Support
Petunia is potty trained; however, it's crucial to pick up her water at least 2 hours before bedtime to ensure she sleeps through the night. She is in the process of crate training and is learning to view it as a safe space. She is currently learning to walk into the crate on her own and receives meals and treats inside with the door shut. When walking on a leash, she can pull in the direction she wants to go and may be leash-reactive when she sees other dogs. While she hasn't shown separation anxiety when left alone for up to 2.5 hours, she needs to be secured before doors are opened.
