Teddy is a handsome and energetic Vizsla/Pitbull mix, approximately 3 years old, who has been patiently waiting for his forever family for over two years. He was recently returned to us after a difficult experience that resulted in a leg amputation. Despite this setback, Teddy is a resilient boy with a lot of love to give. He was previously raised with children and enjoys the company of larger dogs, but he is not good with small animals, including small dogs.
Ideal Home
An active home with older children would be a great fit for Teddy's high energy levels. Due to his past experiences, a home without cats is recommended, as he may be inclined to chase them. He would also do best in a home with larger dogs, as he is not comfortable with small dogs.
Ongoing Health
Teddy recently underwent an amputation of one of his legs due to an injury, which is believed to have been caused by being hit by a car. He is recovering well and does not require special care beyond what any dog recovering from surgery would need.
Training & Support
Teddy is a strong boy who is still learning his manners and will benefit from ongoing training and consistent reinforcement of house rules. He has a history of food aggression towards other dogs, stemming from a past of food scarcity. This can be managed with patience, regular feeding schedules, and potentially feeding him separately from other pets. He is slowly learning to accept that he doesn't always get his way, and this progress needs to be continued in his new home.
