Training & Support
While Noah is brave and joyful, remember that any dog coming from a shelter may need time, patience, and training to adjust to a new home. Shelter behavior is just a snapshot and may change once he's settled. We recommend using the Rule of 3 to help him adjust:
- First 3 days: He might feel scared, tired, or overexcited, and may not want to eat.
- First 3 weeks: He'll start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places.
- First 3 months: He will usually feel settled and more comfortable.
It's also a good idea to learn about his breed mix to ensure it fits your family. If you plan to adopt another dog, we encourage a meet-and-greet with your current canine companion. While cat tests are available, they only check for clear aggression, so always be cautious when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about children is based on general behavior like energy level and how a dog handles touch; young children should never be left unsupervised with any dog.
