About Callie
Hi, I’m Callie! I’m a gentle, thoughtful girl who is learning every day that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. I came into rescue earlier this year after being found as a stray with my puppies, and I’ve spent a lot of my recent life focused on being a devoted mama. Now that my puppies are grown, I’m finally getting the chance to figure out who I am—and I’m doing it at my own pace. I’m a shy, sensitive girl who takes time to build trust, but I’ve made some really beautiful progress. With patience and gentle encouragement, I’m starting to show more of my personality. I’ve even begun using my voice a little more—in fact, I recently gave a soft “woof” when I was ready for breakfast, which felt like a big milestone for me! Once I feel safe, I enjoy simple things like quiet walks, soft routines, and being near my person. I’ve learned to follow more confidently on walks and sometimes even lead the way when I’m feeling secure. I can still be unsure in new situations, and I do best with people who are patient and let me move at my own speed. I’m very clean in the home and have done well with crate training, where I sleep peacefully through the night. I’m also fully potty trained and generally a quiet, well-mannered girl indoors. I do best with calm environments and respectful handling, as I’m still learning to fully trust touch and physical affection. When I do offer trust, it’s very special—I’ve started leaning in for comfort and seeking closeness in small, meaningful ways. I can coexist with other dogs and sometimes feel more confident around them, especially when things are calm and predictable. I may also feel more secure in a home that understands my need for space, structure, and gentle introductions to new experiences. I haven’t been formally tested with cats or children, so slow, careful introductions would be important. What’s most important about me is this: I am trying. Every day, I’m becoming a little braver, a little more curious, and a little more open to connection. If you’re someone who understands that trust takes time and you find joy in watching a shy dog bloom, I might just be your girl.
