Prince is a handsome young man, around 2 to 2 1/2 years old and weighing between 58 and 64 pounds. He came to us as an owner surrender due to no fault of his own and was facing euthanasia at a high-kill shelter. Not only was he heartworm positive, but he also had an eye issue that his owner neglected. Luckily, we were able to step in! Prince underwent heartworm treatment (he is no longer positive!) and had surgery to correct entropion in his eye, so it's now as good as new. He sailed through his treatment and has blossomed into a real gem! He's up-to-date on all his shots, crate trained, and potty trained. Prince is treat and food motivated, but not food aggressive. He rides well in the car and enjoys walks. His energy level is medium.
Ideal Home
Prince would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can play. He would enjoy a canine companion to play with, but it's not a requirement. He would do well with a family that has children, a couple, or a single person, as long as he's included in daily adventures. He would most likely not be a good apartment dog. He needs a home where tie-outs and electric fences are not used.
Ongoing Health
Prince is no longer heartworm positive and his eye issue has been surgically corrected. He is up-to-date on all his shots.
Training & Support
Prince knows commands such as sit, come, heel, and "gentle" for taking treats. While he previously humped other dogs at the shelter, this behavior has stopped since his neutering. He is now playful with other dogs of all sizes.
