Chicken Noodle Boop is a very special dog with special needs. She was used as a breeder despite her physical issues. When she arrived in rescue, we took her to the Animal Welfare and Rehabilitation Center to diagnose her inability to stand and her "wobbliness." They found that she had lesions on her C1 and C5 and recommended monthly acupuncture and some medications. She has been on this regimen for a few months and is doing great!
Her foster shares that Chicken Noodle Boop wakes up around 6 am for her first meal and then drinks some water before returning to her cozy blanket nest in her playpen for the day. When her foster returns home, they clean up any accidents, provide fresh water, and then serve her dinner. She enjoys spending her evenings watching TV on the sofa, cuddling next to her person. If she starts licking her lips, she's likely thirsty (or hungry!). If she gets wiggly without apparent reason, she probably needs to use the bathroom. She does her business in her playpen and will likely not be able to be potty trained. She has a unique "bathroom dance" where she'll lie on her side, pull her back legs into her belly, and then perform a "bicycle move" to help her pee or poop. Dr. Sangid recommends monthly acupuncture treatments for her, and she is currently taking herbs. She is given Miralax a couple of times a week to aid with bowel movements. Chicken Noodle Boop loves receiving little doggy massages and enjoys sitting outside on a nice day. Her favorite treat is the whipped cream from Starbucks! She loves to burrow under her blanket in her playpen for a good night's sleep. She has C1 and C5 lesions, but she can now hold her head still and can even sit herself up on one elbow.
Chicken Noodle Boop is extremely loving and would enjoy living in any household. We do not think she will ever be able to walk or use a wheelchair, so an apartment would be sufficient for her.
Ideal Home
Chicken Noodle Boop would be happy in an apartment setting. We recommend an adopter in or near Knoxville, or someone who has access to a veterinarian who can perform acupuncture.
