April is a beautiful 3-year-old Pointer mix who was adopted from our shelter nearly three years ago. Through no fault of her own, she has returned because a member of her family now requires medical care and they are no longer able to keep her. They shared that April has been a wonderful companion, and we are committed to helping her find another loving forever home. According to her previous family, April is house-trained and has lived happily with adults, children as young as 1 year old, cats, and other dogs. While she enjoys the company of other dogs, she can be selective with some canine friends, so we always recommend a dog meet if there is another dog in the home. April loves spending time outdoors, especially running around the backyard and visiting dog parks where she enjoys playing with other dogs. She lets you know when she needs to go outside by waiting at the door and already knows commands such as sit, stop, and down. She is a loving, caring dog who thrives on attention and is known for being gentle while playing with young children. Our staff and volunteers have also fallen for April's sweet personality. They describe her as affectionate and kind, often sitting in front of you to ask for kisses and attention. Once she's outside, she enjoys sniffing around before breaking into joyful zoomies that are guaranteed to make you smile. April is a loving, intelligent dog who has already proven she can be a wonderful family companion. She is looking for a family that will give her the stability, love, and patience she deserves. In return, she'll reward you with kisses, happy zoomies, and a lifetime of loyalty.
Ideal Home
April can be selective with some canine friends, so we always recommend a dog meet if there is another dog in the home. She can become excited and jump up to greet people, so until she is trained not to do that, a home without very small children or elderly family members may be the best fit while she continues to improve this behavior.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions were mentioned in the listing.
Training & Support
April walks fairly well on a leash, although a harness is recommended as she continues to work on her manners. She can become excited and jump up to greet people, so a home that can continue to work with her on this behavior will be beneficial. Our staff has already been working with her, and she is making progress. She is house-trained and knows commands such as sit, stop, and down.
