Meet Ponderosa, affectionately known as Pondsy! This handsome, almost-2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix is about 60 pounds of pure sunshine, goofiness, and "goodest boy" energy. His coat is a soft, shiny black, and his big warm brown eyes are guaranteed to melt your heart. When he sees his favorite people, get ready for the signature "Pondsy Wiggle" and a tail that wags with all its might, often followed by a happy belly-flop for rubs. Pondsy makes every day an adventure, whether he's hiking, walking, or napping in the car – he just loves being included. He's a curious and silly pup, always ready for fun, and makes an amazing hiking buddy who also loves to snuggle up once the adventures are done.
Ideal Home
Pondsy would do best in a home without cats, as they are simply too interesting for him to resist. He can also be a bit overwhelmed by small children, so a home with teenagers (13+) and adults would be ideal. While he can adapt to apartment living (first floor preferred) with enough exercise and mental stimulation, a yard for him to play in would be extra wonderful. He loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a friendly, medium-energy female dog who enjoys playtime, but he'd also be perfectly content being the sole canine companion.
Ongoing Health
Pondsy is a true trooper! He underwent leg surgery and extensive physical therapy, emerging stronger and happier than ever. His back leg has a unique characteristic now, which adds to his charm and doesn't slow down his love for running, playing, and zooming.
Training & Support
Pondsy is a smart boy who is currently working on his training. As he's still young, he benefits from continued positive reinforcement and consistent guidance to help him settle into his forever home.

Pondsy is located in Texas. We facilitate nationwide adoptions via our rescue run USDA certified transport system, ensuring safe and comfortable travel for every pet with 24/7 care. We have drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada (pick-up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You'll be able to track your pet's journey in real time and receive photo updates. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
