This sweet senior girl is an eleven-year-old Jack Russell Terrier/American Pitbull Terrier mix with a heart full of devotion and a coat as charming as her personality. Weighing in at about 30 pounds, Nutmeg is a delightful blend of terrier curiosity and steadfast loyalty. She's the perfect companion for someone who enjoys both quiet cuddles and exciting outdoor adventures. Nutmeg loves to spend her days exploring on walks or hikes, and her evenings curled up beside her favorite people.

Ideal Home

Nutmeg is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with experienced owners who can provide a predictable and confident lifestyle. She needs to be the only pet and cannot live with children or have regular child visitors.

Ongoing Health

Nutmeg is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations. She is currently on daily medication to help manage anxiety.

Training & Support

Nutmeg is a treat-motivated learner and knows an impressive list of commands including sit, stay, place, bed, leave it, down, spin, wait, and house training! She is also crate-trained. Due to past traumatic experiences, Nutmeg has shown resource guarding and defensive reactivity towards other dogs and children. While she has made significant progress, she still requires a patient adopter familiar with canine body language and positive reinforcement techniques. She has never bitten another dog but has displayed defensive reactions around children and had two recent incidents with humans (a leash lunge and a nip) during a period of household stress.
