Pancake aka Brown

This sweet 14-pound Chi mix, Pancake (also known as Brown), arrived with us from a hoarding situation on the east coast of Florida. She's a bit shy and unsocialized, but she's not aggressive towards people at all. Pancake just needs time, patience, and a quiet environment to decompress. Her airline crate is currently her safe space, and she hasn't shown any signs of biting, only a desire to make herself small. We've seen wonderful progress: she's now taking food from our hands and even approaching for more! She can be intimidated by boisterous dogs, preferring to observe from a distance. However, when she has your undivided attention, she'll approach for treats and even allow petting. She definitely needs more one-on-one time. She does have a habit of spinning in her crate when she's being fed, but she has a good appetite and this should resolve with time.

Ideal Home

Pancake would thrive in a quiet home with someone experienced in working with fearful or hoarding-situation dogs. A securely fenced yard is a must, and she'd do best with another calm, non-intrusive dog.

Ongoing Health

Pancake is in good health.

Training & Support

Pancake needs to learn to walk on a leash, become accustomed to being touched, and build trust with people. Her spinning in the crate while being fed is not a concern for her eating, and we expect it to fade with time. She is housebroken and has used a dog door.
