Mabel

Meet Mabel, a 7-8-year-old, 23 lb. French Bulldog with a heart full of love and a gentle spirit. Mabel came into rescue as a stray and quickly became clear that she had been living with significant discomfort. Veterinary exams revealed large bladder stones, but thankfully, Mabel underwent surgery to have them removed and is recovering beautifully. She's a quiet, affectionate girl who absolutely adores people. Her favorite things in life are belly rubs, lounging in the sunshine, and being close to her favorite humans. You'll often find her stretched out in the yard soaking up the warm sun or curled up nearby hoping for a gentle scratch and some love.

Ideal Home

Mabel's ideal home is a peaceful one where she can enjoy a comfortable bed, plenty of affection, and sunny spots for napping. She must have a home where someone is home most of the day and able to let her out frequently to go potty. She is not a good fit for a busy household with small children or active dogs who may not understand her boundaries. Mabel would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home where she can soak up all the attention for herself. However, she could possibly do well with a very calm, gentle, and submissive canine companion who will give her space and let her be the boss.

Ongoing Health

Mabel will need to remain on a special veterinary diet for the rest of her life to help prevent future bladder stones. While her prognosis is good, and her doctor is hopeful she will not have further bladder issues, her adopter must be committed to her and financially able to support her.

Training & Support

Mabel has done well with small dogs in her foster home, but she can be very possessive of toys, bones, and special treasures. Because of this, she needs a home that respects her need for personal space. Mabel is housebroken and crate trained.
