This is Valor.
There are dogs you rescue... and then there are dogs that rescue you. Valor is one of those dogs. At only 4 years old, Valor was confiscated from a place of unimaginable cruelty. The things he endured are things no dog should ever have to experience. Some stories are too painful to tell in a bio. We can share more with serious adopters who inquire. But if you meet him, you'll quickly realize something that will stay with you long after you leave. What happened to Valor does not define him. And somehow... despite every reason in the world not to... he still loves. He loves with a depth that is hard to explain. He wants hugs. He wants to be held close. He wants to curl up beside you in bed and press his entire body against yours like he's trying to make up for every ounce of love and safety he lost along the way. He leans into affection like it's all he needs to survive. After everything people did to him, Valor still chooses people. He isn't destructive. He doesn't mark in the house. He quietly goes into his kennel without complaint. He walks gently on a leash like he just wants to stay near you. He won't dart out the door. He's incredibly obedient and deeply in tune with his person - constantly watching you, following your lead, wanting nothing more than to be close and connected. He loves toys and squeaky things. And he's still learning little things many dogs take for granted, like how to catch a ball. Imagine surviving things no living creature should survive... and still finding joy in learning how to be a dog.
