Meet Michelle! This 3-year-old spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix is a social butterfly who weighs about 48 pounds and is ready for her second chance at a forever home. Rescued from a high-kill shelter, Michelle is making the most of her new life and is eager to find a family to share her love and goofy antics with.
Ideal Home
Michelle would thrive in a home with another friendly dog, as she loves to play and nap with her canine companions. She has met children ages 8 and up and was sweet and loving, but because she can get a little over-excited and jump, we recommend a home with children 12 and up or dog-savvy teens who can handle her enthusiastic greetings. While she enjoys outdoor play, she also settles beautifully indoors and would do well in an apartment or urban setting as long as she gets consistent exercise and enrichment. A securely fenced yard is a must, or consistent leash walks, as she is an escape artist and can scale fences.
Ongoing Health
Michelle is a healthy and happy girl with no known ongoing health concerns.
Training & Support
Michelle is fully housebroken and crate trained, often choosing to relax in her crate during the day. She is highly food-motivated and learns quickly, but she does have a bit of a mischievous streak around food. She needs to be fed separately to prevent her from stealing treats or finishing another dog's meal. Continued leash training will help her improve her walking manners, and supervision when she's unsupervised is important due to her love for chewing and her escape artist tendencies. Redirecting her has proven effective in guiding her behavior.
