About Ernie

How do you like my hairdo???? That is no fake...my three siblings and me all have "mohawks" and find they are attention grabbers and very cute! My name is Ernie and I came to AGPR with 23 other dogs from a hoarding situation. We called the event "March Madness". I was adopted in 2020 and then returned in 2022 due to COVID-related changes in the family. I'm not sure why, but I've found I need "my space". I'm a lovely boy and enjoy people but don't like to be cornered or "trapped" by people I don't know well. My comfort level with women is awesome but sometimes men make me a little nervous. Here at AGPR, I have a BFF - her name is Darcy and she's a Pyr who came from a hoarding situation in 2020. We get along fine, so I think I would be happy sharing a home with a nice female canine. Not sure about kids - it depends on their respect of "my space". If you decide you'd like to be my forever family, I must insist that there's NO trying to change my mohawk! The four of us siblings wear it like a badge of courage since we've been through so much in our pre-March Madness life. All Great Pyrenees require a fenced-in yard (at least four foot high).

Ideal Home

A fenced-in yard (at least four feet high) is a must. Ernie is unsure about children and would do best in a home where their respect for his space is understood. He can be nervous around men he doesn't know well.

Ongoing Health

No specific health concerns are noted.

Training & Support

Ernie needs his space and can be anxious if he feels cornered or trapped by people he doesn't know well. He is comfortable with women but can be nervous around unfamiliar men. He would likely do well with a calm, female canine companion.
