About Paloma

Paloma is an absolutely wonderful 1.5-year-old, 74lb cane corso mix. She embodies everything that people love about mastiff breeds - she is incredibly loyal and bonds deeply with her person, she is strong-willed and very smart, and has the cutest body wiggles you have ever seen. Paloma was returned to the shelter by her previous owner after a year because they didn't have time for her and kept her as an outside dog. She was understandably scared and confused at the shelter and landed on the euthanasia list, but thankfully, she was rescued. In foster care, she has shown just how wonderful she is, being extremely friendly with all people, showing zero signs of stranger danger. She is terrific with other playful dogs around her size, but given her more alpha personality, a neutral or submissive canine companion would be best. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats for this lady! Paloma loves to train and is very in tune with her foster, responding readily to sounds and redirecting easily thanks to her deep bond with her human. Because of her love of training, we believe she has the ability to be a service dog if given the opportunity. Paloma is a high-energy young dog looking for an active home where she can get at least 1.5 hours of cumulative exercise per day. While she is high-energy, she also loves curling up in a little donut next to her human and can be very chill when her exercise needs are met. Paloma is amazing, but mastiffs and large breeds require a specific type of owner who is willing to work with their dog day in and day out to give them the fulfillment they need. Paloma thrives on routine and exercise. When given that, she will give you the world.

Ideal Home

Paloma is looking for an active home with at least 1.5 hours of exercise per day. She would do best in a home with a neutral or submissive dog her size. No cats or small dogs.

Ongoing Health

Paloma is potty trained but may pee with excitement in her crate if out of routine.

Training & Support

Paloma is working on leash and crate training. She responds well to redirection and continued work on these areas is encouraged. She may vocalize for 10-20 minutes when first put in her crate, especially if she hasn't had enough exercise, but she will settle.
