About Groot
Head of the Welcome Committee. Self-Appointed Assistant Manager.
There is something deeply funny about Groot. Not because he tries to be funny, but because he walks through life like he's been promoted to a position that doesn't actually exist. He has somehow convinced himself that he's both the Head of the Welcome Committee and the Assistant Manager of your household. Nobody hired him. Nobody trained him. There wasn't even an interview. He simply noticed there were jobs to be done... and clocked in. Making breakfast? He's there. Taking the trash out? He'll supervise. Checking the mail? He'll escort you. Walking around the yard? Excellent. He was actually about to schedule a property inspection anyway. Performance reviews have been outstanding.
This 45-pound, long-legged goober has somehow become equal parts backyard explorer, quality control specialist, and morale officer. The first thing you'll notice is the ears. They're absolutely enormous. We're pretty sure Groot could hear someone opening a bag of treats in another county. Half the time he isn't even looking at you, he's listening to something happening three houses over. Then he'll slowly turn and give you this look like, "Don't worry... I've got it handled."
Outside is Groot's favorite office. He loves running, exploring, sniffing every inch of the yard, and making sure the squirrels are complying with neighborhood regulations. He'll stand perfectly still, staring into the woods like he's solving a federal investigation... then immediately abandon all professional responsibilities and launch into full-speed puppy zoomies because another dog started running first. It's impossible not to laugh.
His favorite part of the job, though, is greeting the other employees. Good grief, this dog LOVES other dogs. Watching Groot meet another dog is like watching someone unexpectedly run into their best friend at the airport. Instant friendship. Instant excitement. Instant plans to spend the afternoon together. He truly blossoms with canine companionship, and we'd absolutely love to see him in a home with another playful dog. Having a buddy to wrestle with, explore beside, and eventually curl up next to after a long workday is where Groot shines brightest.
For someone with such an important position, Groot has impeccable manners. He's fully house trained, crate trained, and already knows sit, lay down, give paw, "go eat," "go outside," and "go for a walk." He learns quickly, responds beautifully to praise, and genuinely wants to make his people proud. One of our favorite Groot moments happens almost every day. He'll proudly pick up one of his toys, carry it over, and gently place it in your lap like he's delivering paperwork that needs your signature. Not because you asked. Not because he wants anything. Just because he thought you should have it.
He's sweet without being clingy. Playful without being chaotic. Funny without even realizing he's funny. He's just one of those genuinely GOOD dogs whose personality slowly wraps around your life before you even realize it happened. At first, he's your Head of the Welcome Committee. Your quality control department. Your Self-Appointed Assistant Manager. Then one day...The joke just... stops being a joke. He isn't your Assistant Manager anymore... He's the reason you smile when you pull into the driveway. The reason the house feels full. The reason you find yourself talking to a dog like he's been your best friend for ten years. The kind of dog that quietly changes your everyday life...until you honestly can't imagine how you ever got along without him. That's Groot.
