About Monika

Monika is a sweet, approximately 1-year-old female Labrador mix who weighs around 26 lbs. She was rescued in March 2024 from the streets of Saltillo, Mexico, along with her mother and siblings. Initially very shy and fearful, Monika has blossomed with consistent love, affection, and patience from her foster family. She is now playful, funny, and quite the treat enthusiast! Monika is crate trained and is doing well socializing with other dogs and people. She can be a little shy and cautious at first, needing a patient human to help her build trust. Once she trusts you, she is incredibly noble and submissive.

Ideal Home

Monika would thrive in a home that is willing to give a rescued pet at least three months to show their true personality. An active family that enjoys daily walks or hiking would be a great fit. A securely fenced backyard is essential. Families should have an open understanding of the needs of street-rescued animals and be prepared to offer protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly recommended, as is a high level of tolerance and patience for a rescued pup.

Ongoing Health

Monika has a clean bill of health and has undergone a comprehensive health protocol. This includes being spayed, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and tested for common diseases (4DX, Heartworm negative). She is on monthly preventive medication (Nexgard Spectra) for fleas, ticks, and heartworms, and has a current health certificate.

Training & Support

Monika is not yet house-trained, and her foster home is unable to dedicate the time to house-train each rescued pet due to the high volume of animals in their care. Potential adopters should be prepared to continue her house-training journey with patience and consistency.
