About Brownie

Brownie is a 4-year-old male Labrador mix, weighing about 35 lbs. He was rescued as a puppy after suffering from severe mange, which left him with some scars and patches of white fur. Brownie is very energetic and anxious, and loves to chew. He knows how to use a crate but becomes very stressed when confined, and he does not yet walk on a leash. Despite these challenges, Brownie is extremely social and affectionate. He loves people, enjoys visitors, seeks attention, hugs, and pets, and is very playful. He has a funny fascination with water and loves to play with it whenever he can. Brownie has spent his life in a shelter and has never experienced a walk. We truly believe that with exercise, structure, patience, and love, he could thrive in a home environment. Brownie is a sweet, friendly dog looking for a committed adopter willing to help him channel his energy and give him the life he deserves. It's essential to recognize that our dogs may have experienced trauma before arriving at our rescue. As a result, they may require an adjustment period in a foster or permanent home. Patience and understanding are crucial when dealing with rescued dogs. Rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences, and they need time to adapt to new environments and people. Patience and understanding can help build trust and strengthen the bond between the dog and their new owner. By understanding and supporting our rescued dogs, we can help them overcome their trauma and find a loving home where they can thrive.

Ideal Home

A home with a fenced backyard is essential. An active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be a great fit for Brownie. Families who are truly committed to rescuing a dog and understand the behaviors associated with street animals needing protection and education are preferred. Experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is highly recommended. A high tolerance and patience for rescued dogs is also a must.

Ongoing Health

Brownie was rescued as a puppy after suffering from severe mange, which left him with some scars and patches of white fur. He has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Bordetella Vaccine, has been dewormed, microchipped, tested for 4DX and heartworm (both negative certificates), and receives monthly preventive protection from Nexgard Spectra. He also has a health certificate and vaccination booklet.

Training & Support

Brownie loves to chew and has worn teeth from gnawing on wood, plastic, and anything he finds. He does not tolerate confinement and becomes very stressed. He does not walk on a leash yet and can be anxious during transport. He is not house-trained. Patience, understanding, and a consistent routine will be crucial for his adjustment.
