Meet Ernest!

Ernest is a gentle, five-and-a-half-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix with a soft cream coat and soulful eyes. He's a devoted companion who loves to stay close, offer sweet kisses, and quietly follow his favorite humans. Ernest is a thoughtful, sensitive boy who thrives on connection. He has happily lived with children, a cat, and even chickens, showing a calm and friendly nature. While social and welcoming toward strangers, he also has a sensitive side that requires understanding and patience.

Ideal Home

Ernest would do best in a home where his caregiver is present most of the time, as he needs a gentle, consistent presence throughout the day and dislikes being left alone for long workdays. He thrives with frequent walks and hikes. Ernest does not do well with crates, kennels, or gates due to barrier frustration and needs a home that allows him freedom of movement. He would do best in a calm environment, as he can become overstimulated and vocalize when there is a lot of movement or change.

Ongoing Health

Ernest requires daily medication, including Keppra, Gabapentin, and Prozac, to manage epilepsy and support his anxiety. His seizures are generally well-managed with consistent care.

Training & Support

Ernest benefits from structure, positive reinforcement, and a steady presence. He is happiest when someone is nearby for companionship and reassurance. While he is good with other dogs, he may need thoughtful introductions and continued guidance to keep play balanced and comfortable.
