Elmo

Elmo is a 10-month-old Great Pyrenees mix who came to us after being shot in the hip, with the bullet lodged near his spine. Thankfully, it has since become completely encapsulated, and all the specialists agree that attempting to remove it would be far riskier than leaving it alone. The good news is that this does not define Elmo’s future. He is healthy, comfortable, and expected to live a long, happy life.

Elmo is sweet, resilient, and quietly brave. He has been through more than any dog should, yet he greets the world with trust and calm. He is ready for a safe home with soft beds and an ample supply of snacks. He enjoys his walks, his people, and his canine friends.

Ideal Home

Elmo would do best skipping extreme sports for now. He would thrive in a home that understands he does not need to be an adventure athlete to be a wonderful companion. He would do best with children over 10 or sturdy children who understand his medical needs. He has not lived with cats and showed some mild interest in them, so dog savvy cats would likely be fine.

Elmo has a bullet lodged near his spine. It has become encapsulated and specialists recommend leaving it in place as removal would be riskier. He is otherwise healthy and comfortable.

Training & Support

Elmo is a joy and enjoys walks and human companionship. He has a particular appreciation for a comfy dog bed.

Transportation

Elmo is currently located at our facility in the Eastern panhandle of West Virginia. We do travel to adopters, though there is a fee for this service.
