Welcome to Camp Cocker, Andy!
Andy is, by all accounts, a complete sweetheart! He was rescued from a puppy mill by our partners, Cocker Friends Korea, with a yeast/fungal infection all over his body & feet, dry eye syndrome, chronic ear infections, and anemia. He's now being treated for all of these conditions. Nothing will make this little guy happier than to settle into his new furever home. We hope that can happen for him soon!
Andy absolutely loves people and is extremely affectionate, especially when giving kisses. He is very curious about other dogs, but due to his current skin condition, the veterinarian advised limited interaction for now. He has only been allowed to sniff other dogs and has never barked, growled, or shown aggression toward them. When left alone, he whines a little at first but settles down quickly and sleeps calmly, showing no signs of separation anxiety so far. He walks well on a leash, though he tends to pause during walks. About 40-50 minutes seems to be his ideal walk time; he may refuse to continue if walks go over an hour. His biggest charm is his incredibly sweet, calm, affectionate, and trusting nature. He has almost no stranger danger and quickly warms up to people. Among Cockers, Andy may be one of the gentlest his foster has ever met.
Ideal Home
Puppy mill dogs need very special adopters – patient people who will be understanding that potty training may be a very long learning curve. These dogs will be extreme flight risks, so a home with no children is safer in terms of entrances and exits being 100% controlled by adults only. Most of these more timid dogs will need a home with another confident dog to help show them the way.
Ongoing Health
Andy is currently being treated for a yeast/fungal infection all over his body & feet, dry eye syndrome, chronic ear infections, and anemia.
Training & Support
Force-free training is the only way to go for puppy mill dogs; they are already so fearful and need kindness, not a dominant alpha approach.
