Meet George!
George is a stunning three-year-old Great Pyrenees/Saint Bernard mix who embodies a quiet strength and a deep capacity for love. Weighing in at 112 pounds, his presence is as breathtaking as the mountains he resembles. Despite a difficult start in life, George has spent the last 15 months blossoming in a loving foster home, learning to trust and feel safe. He's not a dog who constantly seeks attention; instead, he's content to be a calm, comforting presence nearby, offering a profound sense of loyalty once his trust is earned.
Ideal Home
George would thrive in a calm, structured environment where patience and understanding are key. He needs ample space to roam and feel secure, making him unsuitable for apartments or small condos. He bonds slowly, so a guardian who appreciates building trust over time will be his perfect match. While he has shown compatibility with a female dog named Piper, he may be best suited for a home without other male dogs.
Ongoing Health
George is a healthy boy. He has shown some food-related guarding tendencies, which will require mindful management and a thoughtful feeding routine.
Training & Support
George is house-trained, leash-savvy, and knows several commands. He responds well to gentle guidance and predictable routines. Due to past trauma and sensitive nature, George needs his space respected, especially when meeting new people. There was one incident of a fear-based bite when a visitor moved too quickly and patted his head. He has also snapped without contact when a new person leaned in face-to-face in an unfamiliar setting. A professional trainer evaluated George and confirmed he is not aggressive but a sensitive, thoughtful dog who needs time to feel safe before close physical contact. His trainers are offering ongoing support through video or phone consultations for his future family.
