Otto is a handsome rescue from Puerto Rico who has been in foster care for the past few months, where he’s learned how to thrive with structure, training, and consistency. He isn’t the type of dog who loves everyone immediately—and that’s perfectly okay. He takes a little time to warm up to new people, typically becoming comfortable with women more quickly than men. Once he builds trust, he forms a deep bond with his person and is incredibly loyal. He’s happiest with someone who understands that relationships are earned and is willing to let him settle in at his own pace. He does well with other dogs after proper introductions and has shown himself to be fairly neutral around cats. While he can happily coexist with other animals, he isn’t overly social and doesn’t seek out constant interaction. Likewise, he isn’t a dog who enjoys lots of affection from strangers or people he doesn’t know well. He prefers clear boundaries, routine, and a predictable daily schedule, which helps him feel confident and secure.
Ideal Home
Otto would do best with an adopter who appreciates a thoughtful, independent dog rather than one who wants constant cuddles. He needs an adopter who understands that relationships are earned and is willing to let him settle in at his own pace.
Ongoing Health
Otto is a rescue from Puerto Rico and has no known ongoing health issues.
Training & Support
Training has been one of his favorite things! He’s extremely food motivated and loves learning new skills. He knows sit, down, place, and come. He has excellent leash manners and is wonderfully neutral in public around people and other animals. He has even been trained to search for oregano using his nose, showing off his intelligence and enthusiasm for scent work.
