Charlie

Meet Charlie, an 8-year-old terrier mix with soft eyes and a heart that's been broken more than once. He was surrendered by the person he trusted most and then left behind at a shelter. Charlie doesn't understand why his life changed, only that the people he loved disappeared. Since then, he's been quiet, careful, and timid. He's lost trust in humans, but not hope. Charlie wants to trust again; you can see it in the way he watches from a distance, wishing he were brave enough to come closer. He's learning, slowly, that not all hands leave, that some voices stay, and that love doesn't always end. He is fond of other dogs.

Ideal Home

Charlie needs a calm home where he can go at his own pace and learn that he is safe and wanted. He would not be a good candidate for a home with younger kids. He needs a person who understands good things come to those who wait and are content to have Charlie shadow them around until he is ready to be petted and have affection shown to him. You must be experienced in moving slooooowly with abused dogs.

Ongoing Health

Charlie's adoption donation of $150 includes his vaccines, neuter, and microchip.

Training & Support

Because of Charlie's challenges, he comes with mandatory training for him and his new family to ensure a smooth transition.
