My name is Jerry, and I'm a distinguished gentleman who has overcome quite a bit and now seeks a loving home to enjoy my golden years. I arrived at C.A.R.E. as a stray with a large growth on my foot. It was so significant that surgery to remove it was complex, and there were concerns it might be cancerous. Before my leg surgery, X-rays revealed I had also swallowed a bottle cap at some point, which required its own surgery for removal. Shortly after, my leg was amputated, and thankfully, the biopsy for the foot growth came back benign. I've also had a small mass removed from my neck, along with a dental cleaning and a couple of extractions. Through it all, I've been a very good sport!
Ideal Home
I thrive on routine and love my daily walks, especially being outdoors. I'm impeccably house-trained and have never had an accident. I walk well on a harness and leash. While I'm friendly and don't have a bit of stranger danger, I do best when introductions to new dogs and people are slow and thoughtful. I love car rides with my head out the window and am quite the head-turner! I'm quiet, easygoing, and happy anywhere – the office, the couch, or on the go. I enjoy sturdy toys. I am endlessly curious about cats and would prefer a home where I do not need to be gated away from them, as my curiosity can lead to unwanted chasing.
Ongoing Health
I've undergone significant medical procedures, including leg amputation, removal of a swallowed bottle cap, removal of a neck mass, dental cleaning, and extractions. All procedures have had positive outcomes.
Training & Support
I am house-trained and walk well on a leash and harness. I am polite with new people and dogs, but slow and thoughtful introductions are best.
