Onyx

Meet Onyx, a sweet 7-year-old Chi Dachshund mix weighing around 20lbs. This charming girl has a calm, gentle spirit and a personality that will make you smile every day. Onyx was rescued from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter in Houston and has been showing everyone just how special she is. She’s currently being fostered in San Antonio, but can transport out of state to the right approved adopter.

Ideal Home

Onyx enjoys a slower pace and would do best in a semi-active to low-activity household where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of relaxing time. She has done well with respectful children ages 7-12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.

Ongoing Health

Onyx is spayed, vaccinated, and up to date on all her preventatives. She has a bit of arthritis, so a home that understands her need for a gentler pace would be ideal.

Training & Support

Onyx is house-broken, sleeps in her crate at night by choice, and can be crated up to 10 hours if needed. She doesn’t resource guard, shows no food aggression, and can be trusted to free roam the house without being destructive. She gets along well with other dogs, though she can get a little excited on leash when greeting new dog friends.
