Meet Nikko!

If happiness could be wrapped up in a furry little package, it would be Nikko.

This sweet, affectionate boy has enough love for everyone he meets, and he isn't shy about showing it. His whole body wiggles when he's excited, and trust us-he gets excited a lot! Nikko is the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere he goes and approaches life with joy, curiosity, and an endless supply of tail wags.

His foster describes him perfectly:

Nikko's Story

Nikko's journey began in Oklahoma, where he and his sister were found as strays and taken into foster care.

While we don't know exactly what life was like before rescue, Nikko has clearly decided that his future is going to be filled with fun, friendship, and love. Since arriving in Wisconsin, he has quickly won over everyone who meets him with his gentle nature and cheerful personality.

Nikko loves being involved in whatever his people are doing. Whether it's an outdoor adventure or a lazy afternoon on the couch, he's happiest when he's with his family.

What Nikko Is Working On

Nikko is a smart, eager-to-learn adolescent who is already doing well with both house training and crate training.

Like many social dogs, he's currently working on:

Polite greetings Keeping all four paws on the floor when excited Leash manners Ignoring distractions while walking Not greeting every person and dog he sees

Because Nikko loves people so much, he sometimes gets overly excited when meeting new friends.

He can also be vocal at times and has a strong prey drive, so continued training and management will help him be successful.

One important thing to know is that Nikko can be a flight risk if startled or if given an opportunity to slip free. A secure harness, properly fitted collar, and careful leash handling are important for his safety.

Nikko absolutely loves other dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine friend to play with.

He loves children, though because he is still young and enthusiastic, he may accidentally knock over smaller children when he's excited.

He can play a little rough with cats, so cat-savvy felines or careful introductions would be important.
