Meet Ponderosa, or "Pondsy" as we affectionately call him! This almost-2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix is approximately 60 pounds of pure sunshine, goofy charm, and "goodest boy" energy. Pondsy has a beautiful, shiny black coat and expressive brown eyes that are sure to melt your heart. When he greets you, be prepared for his signature "Pondsy Wiggle," a full-body happy dance, often followed by a delightful belly-flop for rubs! He's a curious and playful pup who thrives on adventure, whether it's hiking, going for walks, or simply enjoying a nap in the car. Pondsy is equally happy exploring the outdoors as he is snuggling up with his favorite people.
Ideal Home
Pondsy would do wonderfully in a home with a playful, medium-energy female dog who enjoys rough-and-tumble play. He's also happy to be your one and only furry companion, soaking up all your attention. He is not a good fit for homes with cats, as they are too tempting for him to chase. He can also be a bit overwhelmed by small children, so a home with teenagers (13+) and adults would be ideal. While he can adapt to apartment living (first floor only!) with sufficient exercise and mental stimulation, he would be extra happy with a yard to romp and play in.
Ongoing Health
Pondsy is a resilient boy who has undergone leg surgery and physical therapy. He's stronger and happier than ever, though his back leg has a unique character that adds to his charm! This does not hinder his ability to run, play, and zoom.
Training & Support
Pondsy is a smart and eager pup. He is crate trained, potty trained, and walks well on a leash. He is still young and has lots of love to give.

Pondsy is currently located in Texas. We facilitate nationwide adoptions and can transport him to drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You can track his journey in real time. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
