Meet Django! This handsome two-year-old mixed breed is a smart, active boy with a sleek black coat and thoughtful eyes. He’s about 50 pounds and loves to build deep bonds with his people, celebrating their return home with pure joy. Django is a wonderful mix of cuddly companion and enthusiastic adventurer. He loves to lean in for affection or curl up for a nap once he feels safe and comfortable. When it comes to play, Django is all in! Balls, sticks, frisbees – he treasures anything he can fetch. He enjoys walks, runs, and even swimming, often proudly carrying a stick or ball as if it’s his special job.
Django’s intelligence shines through in his love for training. He already knows many cues, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, no bark, and ok as a release cue. Positive reinforcement keeps his mind engaged and happy!
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter, child-free, and cat-free home, likely as the only dog. He needs an active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys training.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
Training & Support
Django can experience fear-based reactivity in certain situations, feeling uncertain around unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, or dogs on leash. He requires thoughtful management in public and benefits from a predictable routine and continued behavior support. He also has a history of resource guarding with other dogs and had one minor nip incident with an unfamiliar person. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him to warm up helps him feel secure. With structure, exercise, and patient guidance, he continues to grow in confidence!
