Prince is a 3-year-year-old Great Pyrenees, weighing in at a very stout, very impressive 130 pounds of pure, unfiltered Pyr. He's as classic as they come, knowing exactly what's happening everywhere at all times and taking his self-appointed role as neighborhood security very seriously. In the absence of actual sheep, Prince feels it's his duty to inform his people about the Amazon driver, the squirrel, and the neighbor walking their dog out front. This is important work, and he'd like you to appreciate it!
He is wonderful with his people and is a silly, fun dog at heart. He is also respectful with people he does not know. Prince loves to play, but like many large working breeds, his athletic efforts come in brief, dramatic bursts. Expect thirty-second sprints followed by a full body collapse on the floor, tongue out. Prince is selectively deaf and hears only what aligns with his personal priorities. He is not an obedience champion and he is not pretending to be. He is independent, thoughtful, and very comfortable making his own decisions. He also sheds. He barks when he sees things. He does exactly the things Great Pyrenees are famous for doing. If you tell him he has been B A D, he will sulk and take it personally.
Ideal Home
Prince needs adopters who genuinely understand and appreciate the Great Pyrenees breed and all of its quirks. He requires a securely fenced yard and is completely untrustworthy off leash. Teen-aged kids and up would be best for this big guy.
Ongoing Health
No ongoing health issues are noted for Prince.
Training & Support
Prince is perfectly housebroken and supremely well-mannered in the home. He barks when he sees things, which is a classic Great Pyrenees trait. Adopters should understand his independent nature and his tendency to "make his own decisions."
