About Annie
Annie is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup weighing in at 7 lbs. She's estimated to reach around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and absolutely adores being doted on. She's naturally curious, observant, and confident, always eager to explore her surroundings and meet new people and furry friends. Annie is a social butterfly, making her the perfect pup for an active family who enjoys including their dog in everyday life. Her laid-back demeanor means she can adapt easily to different environments and enjoys fun family adventures. Whether she's playing with other dogs, cuddling with her foster mom, or chasing toys in the yard, Annie is always happy as long as she's with her humans. She has a perfect balance of playful energy and a mellow side, content to entertain herself with toys or nap on a dog bed.
Ideal Home
Annie would thrive in a home with a fenced yard for exercise and mental stimulation. She would love a family that enjoys taking walks, exploring new places, and spending time outdoors, including her in their everyday activities. She would also be happy in a home that enjoys cozy evenings filled with snuggles. Annie would love a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and would be thrilled to receive a BarkBox subscription to keep her entertained, especially as she starts teething. She would love to join her humans for casual neighborhood walks or longer nature trails. Annie would do best with older children who are experienced with smaller breeds and know how to handle her carefully, as she can be wiggly when excited and picked up. She has been around cats and is friendly towards them, and would do well in a home with a dog-friendly cat that has lived with dogs before. She would not do well at public dog parks due to the risk of disease or bullying by other dogs.
Ongoing Health
Annie is starting to teeth, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human toys.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night with no fuss and will hang out in her kennel with the door open to nap. She will alert her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy door bell by the back door to help her learn how to notify you. She needs a consistent schedule and to be taken out every few hours initially until she adjusts to a new environment, but she picks up quickly on new schedules. She would love to have a family that is home more often than not, or someone with a hybrid schedule or who works from home. If her humans work out of the home, a dog walker mid-day or doggy daycare is recommended.
