Meet PD, an 11-year-old Chihuahua who's a true gem! This little guy is a champion of house manners, boasting perfect potty training with zero accidents in his foster home. PD's heart belongs to his people, and he adores his furry foster brother, generous belly scratches, and being the king of his castle. His two daily treats aren't just a reward – they're the secret to ensuring he gets his necessary medication! PD has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart and a heart murmur, which are managed with daily medication. He also has kidney concerns that are carefully maintained with a prescription kidney-support diet. PD would benefit from shedding a few pounds with some light exercise to boost his overall health. He's a bit particular about his canine companions, preferring not to interact with dogs larger than himself. He can also get a tad jealous when his foster brother is receiving attention or if someone gets too close while he's enjoying lap time, showing a bit of possessiveness over his people. This special boy needs a peaceful and loving home where new visitors are minimal, as he can be a bit spirited with strangers due to his protective nature. His forever family must be committed to continuing his medical care. He has truly been the bestest boy in his foster home!
Thanks to a generous Senior Pet Adoption Grant from the Petfinder Foundation, his adoption fee is covered, and the first $700 of his prescription food and medication will be provided for a loving adopter!
Ideal Home
PD would thrive in a calm and loving home environment. He does not like dogs bigger than he is and can become possessive of his people if his boundaries aren't respected. A home that doesn't have a lot of new people coming and going would be ideal for him.
Ongoing Health
PD has an enlarged heart and a heart murmur, requiring daily medication. He also has kidney concerns managed with a prescription diet. He is also a bit overweight and would benefit from light exercise.
Training & Support
PD is fully potty trained and has never had an accident. He can be possessive of his people and needs clear boundaries.
