SONNY BOY

Meet Sonny Boy! This handsome 5-year-old fellow weighs in at a compact 25 lbs and is a charming blend of Pomeranian, Chihuahua, and Dachshund. Sonny is a professional snuggle bug who absolutely adores being a lap dog. He's also got a playful spirit and needs to stay active and engaged. He's a loyal companion, but he does have a history of resource guarding, which has been exacerbated by changes in his environment. For this reason, he needs a patient, experienced owner who understands and can manage possessive behaviors.

Ideal Home

Sonny would thrive in a quiet home without children or frequent visitors. He needs an owner who is well-versed in managing resource guarding behaviors and is committed to providing a stable, predictable environment. A fenced-in yard is a plus for him to safely explore and play. He can live with a submissive dog of any size, but a toy-free home for the first three months is strongly recommended to help him succeed. He is not a good fit for homes with cats.

Sonny has a healed shotgun pellet near his pelvis.

Training & Support

Sonny is house-trained, leash-trained, and knows basic commands. He can be vocal but is receptive to gentle correction. While he has a manageable bite history related to toys, experienced owners can work through his resource guarding. He is not aggressive towards strangers or children as a general rule; his challenges arise when he feels threatened or protective of his belongings.
