Charlie is a sweet senior Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix, born in 2011. He's seeking a loving new home because his previous owner experienced health issues making it difficult to provide him with the care he deserves. Charlie is looking for a companion who will be home most of the time, as he doesn't do well with long hours of being left alone. While he's a bit shy at first, he's generally friendly with strangers and enjoys quiet companionship. He's described as calm and loves a good nap, especially in a sunny spot. He also enjoys spending time outdoors when the weather is nice, so a comfy blanket on the patio would be a dream for him!
Ideal Home
Charlie would thrive in a home where someone is present most of the time. He prefers a quiet environment and, while he's okay with visitors, he enjoys the peace and quiet once they leave. A female companion, perhaps an older woman, would be ideal as he's used to that dynamic. Charlie needs regular potty breaks, and he's been improving at letting his needs be known by going outside more frequently. Consistent grooming is also important for his well-being.
Ongoing Health
Charlie is not currently on any medications and has no known health issues. He does have some age-related vision and hearing loss, but he is otherwise healthy.
Training & Support
Charlie is leash-trained and house-trained, usually indicating his need to go out by barking or whining. He's accustomed to using the back door for potty breaks and enjoys a bit of fresh air afterward. He is also crate-trained and sleeps in his crate at night. When his person leaves, he may even go into his crate for a nap during the day. Charlie knows a few words, including "outside," "bedtime," "mailman," and "go for a ride." We are unsure how he would interact with other dogs, cats, or young children, but he has been okay with family and friends visiting his home. We recommend holding his leash as a precaution when guests arrive at the front door.

Charlie is located in the Omaha, NE area. Adoptions must be completed in person by the adoptive family in the Omaha, NE area. We do not ship or deliver.
