Say hello to Lucia!
Lucia is a beautiful 6-year-old Dalmatian who was found wandering alone in a park. She appears to have had puppies at some point in her life and is now ready to leave her shelter days behind and start the next chapter of her life with a family of her own. Lucia is everything many people hope for in an adult dog. She's past the puppy stage but still has plenty of life, love, and happiness to share. She walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys spending time with her people, and absolutely adores toys. While she's enthusiastic about chewing, she'll need sturdy toys since small ones may end up swallowed instead of played with!
What truly makes Lucia special is her gentle and affectionate nature. She loves to snuggle and has been wonderful with everyone she has met. In a previous foster home, she was kind and patient with a two-year-old child and lived peacefully alongside a resident dog, even when that dog wasn't always welcoming. Lucia has a remarkably tolerant and easygoing personality. She prefers calmer canine companions over overly energetic dogs and does best with respectful dog friends. As with any new addition to the family, slow introductions on neutral ground are recommended to help everyone get off to a great start. Lucia is curious about cats and often offers playful bows to them, though she may give chase if they run. With proper management and introductions, a home with cats could still be a possibility.
Ideal Home
Lucia would thrive in a home that can provide her with sturdy toys for her chewing enthusiasm. While she has been good with children and resident dogs, slow introductions on neutral ground are recommended. She would prefer calmer canine companions over overly energetic dogs and may chase cats if they run, so a home with cats would require proper management and introductions.
Ongoing Health
Lucia is currently working on shedding a few extra pounds and would benefit from regular exercise and a healthy Dalmatian-appropriate diet. She also appears to have some allergies, which may improve with proper nutrition and care. Lucia is already spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and has had a dental completed.
Training & Support
Lucia walks beautifully on a leash. She is enthusiastic about chewing and will need sturdy toys.
