Max is a 6-year-old, 71 lb Akita/Husky mix with one striking blue eye and a gentle soul. He's neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Max is fully house-trained and hasn't had a single accident in his foster home. He truly loves life and is a beautiful, intelligent dog who is obedient and eager to learn. Max is very in tune with the people around him, knows most commands, and is a quick learner who enjoys working with his handler. He builds strong bonds with people when given a little time and space to get to know them. Once he feels safe, his calm and happy personality really shines. Max was found at a kill shelter in NY and was quickly placed on the euthanasia list. He was very frightened and unsure of the people around him. If someone offered him a treat, he would gently take it, drop it, and only eat it once the person stepped away. It was clear he wanted to trust, he just needed to feel safe. When Max arrived at his foster home, he showed signs of trust right away. He took a treat from his foster's hand immediately, and his foster could tell that his trust would continue to grow with time. In just over a week, Max began to settle in and feel much more comfortable. Now he is calm, happy, and enjoys being around people. He loves walks, exploring new places, and going on car rides. Max also has a sweet, playful side and enjoys carrying around his favorite toys — especially his duck, avocado, and little mouse. Max thrives with structure and enjoys relaxing in his crate after walks. He may be a bit shy at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes a loyal and devoted companion.
