Brie is a approximately 3-year-old, 60+ pound Livestock Guardian breed with a heart of gold. When she first arrived at a shelter, life had been tough. She was heartworm positive and her back end was nearly bald, but Brie's spirit never wavered. Thanks to dedicated care, good food, and time to heal, she has blossomed into a stunning and resilient girl. Brie is an independent thinker, fiercely loyal, and naturally protective of her loved ones. She may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once she trusts you, you'll have a devoted companion for life. She has done well with other dogs after slow introductions and would be happiest as the only pet in the home, especially for those adopting from out-of-state.
Ideal Home
Brie would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely explore and enjoy the outdoors while still being an integral part of the family indoors. She's not an outdoor-only dog and desires family interaction. We recommend a home with older children who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs, as she hasn't been around young children.
Ongoing Health
Brie was treated for heartworm. She is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Brie is new to living indoors but has shown great promise in her kennel, keeping her space clean and not destroying her bedding. With patience and consistency, she is expected to adjust beautifully to home life. We'd love to see her in a home with someone experienced with livestock guardian breeds or someone eager to learn about these special dogs.
