Buddy Edward is a middle-aged dude with a bit of a belly – and we are working on his weight! He is the happiest, chubbiest little Shih Tzu around. He snorts like a bulldog and has the cutest waddle! Buddy came to rescue at 18 lbs, and while his bloodwork looks great, his weight is a concern, and obesity can lead to health problems down the line. His foster family has him on a special diet with specific kibble and is feeding him only one meal a day. Buddy has curly white and tan fur. He used to have bald spots due to skin infections, but they've all grown back beautifully! As with many breeds, Buddy will require regular, extensive grooming, so plan for frequent trips to the salon!
Ideal Home
Buddy enjoys the company of cats, small dogs, and big dogs, and he absolutely loves attention, especially when he gets to snuggle on his foster mom's lap.
Ongoing Health
Buddy's bloodwork is good, but his weight is a concern. He is currently on a diet and special kibble to manage this.
Training & Support
Buddy is leash-trained and potty-trained, and he adores car rides and going anywhere! His original owners, who loved him dearly, started to struggle with their own care, leading to Buddy and his siblings being neglected and not housetrained. Buddy has made great progress with his housetraining.
